The Maryland Rural Business Innovation - 2 (RBI-2)Initiative is designed to enhance commercialization activities and provide technical and business assistance to small early-stage technology based companies in the rural areas of Maryland as defined by the Rural Maryland Council.
Providing intensive technical and general business assistance is a cornerstone of this program connecting companies to business resources and federal laboratory and university research opportunities. The goal is to help companies move to the next growth level. Assistance is provided at no cost to the company.
The RBI-2 Initiative will achieve its goals through:
Identifying companies seeking technologies to commercialize and facilitate collaborations with federal laboratories and universities in Maryland
Providing general business assistance in:
Technology commercialization strategy
Intellectual property strategy
Market channels
Financing options
Building a management team
SBIR and STTR proposal writing assistance
Organizational structure
Human Resource issues
New market opportunities
Providing technical assistance in:
Prototype design
Manufacturing Assistance
Energy Assessments
Identifying funding opportunities for early stage companies
A TEDCO Technical Assistance Specialist will work with a company to analyze its needs for assistance. Eligibility requirements include: the company must be utilizing technology in commercializing their product or service, have less than 15 employees and have less then $1 million in revenue.
