MTPI Fact Sheet (PDF file)
Project Summary
The Maryland Technology Partnership for Innovation (MTPI) is a consortium of regional business schools, technology incubators, and economic development organizations in Baltimore City, Prince George’s County, and the Eastern Shore working to connect businesses to the technology resources found in the federal laboratories and provide specialized business development assistance.
The MTPI is funded by the prestigious National Science Foundation and is managed by Morgan State University and the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO).
Specifically, the MTPI will use technology incubators and business schools to:
- provide customized assistance;
- create collaboration strategies between businesses and federal laboratories;
- support new product creation; and
- assist companies in attracting private capital.
Features of the MTPI Program:
Companies interested in the program must complete an application and submit it to an MTPI partner. Any of the MTPI partners can nominate a company. The review and selection process takes about one month from application to decision. Selected companies will receive:
- an in depth business analysis;
- assistance in the development of a tailored mentoring agenda; and
- assigned mentoring partners from the MTPI (e.g., Business school grad students and Incubator staff).
